What really stands out about these local sites are the “changed life” stories. People in your community can relate to a personal story. On the Love Halifax website they not only have the “changed life” story in text, they also have it in audio format.

You could add this feature easily to your blog using Audio Blogger or MP3 files. They allow the recorded post to be up to 5 minutes per post to your blog. You can use Audio Blogger for free. You just need to pay for the long distance charge.
