My Church 2.0
Sep 21st, 2006 by Doug
MyChurch.org is a brand new social network website for your church. It is not just a “My Space” for your church, but also a way for members in your church to connect with each other and those outside your church. MyChurch is not meant to replace a churches main website, but it is a good compliment to it. They have no plans to run ads on the website. Churches can pay a small fee to upgrade the amount of disc space for their church. MyChurch.org is still in beta, but the team there has done a good job with the initial launch.

Thanks for the mention Doug. I hate to break the news prematurely (and not on my own blog), but we will likely have to go down the path of advertisements.
It appears it will just take too long and we’ll run out of money if we wait for churches to become subscribers.
But we won’t clutter the place with ads. Max of 1 per page, and it will be from non-profit or otherwise Christian organizations. And of course, subscribed churches would not see them
What this sponsorship will do though is allow users and churches to have more disk space for free. 10MB was a laughable disk quota, and we’re going to increase that significantly.
